I would like to say it was awesome to see Ps Merv attend this event to give covering to a fine bunch of worshippers. The message was awesome (not that I'm biased at all eh? ) If you missed it, the recap is as follows: Deut 8v7 In Egypt the Isrealites had "never enough". It's like us when we look back to our pre-christian days sometimes we long for the things we had but forget that we were in slavery. In the wilderness the Isrealites had "just enough"; they were provided with each day's fare and not more. Their attitudes kept them there - they were always murmuring, judging, expecting the worst and giving up. Proverbs 23v7 says as a man thinks so he is - so you can see where that got them. It is little wonder God had them be silent for 7 days before granting the miracle at Jericho - some may say keeping them all from complaining was the miracle! In our lives we need to reflect when we feel negative, take stock and don't give in to the negativity. In the promised land, the Isrealites had "more than enough". The people were given the promise that God was their God not just Moses' (Gen 17v8). They were no longer to be wanderers, they were to advance and possess. In Christian terms this means not just being able to look after yourself (and your family) but others around you. We each have a role to play for the kingdom, and we need to work together.
As I said that was just the recap - for the full message why don't you catch up with Christine after Church.

Hi This is my first attempt at participating in a forum discussion, so I'll keep it short. I enjoyed reading your post about the Israelites looking back to the good things they had left being in Egypt and forgetting the pain of being in slavery. I just played one of my favourite songs "Painting pictures of Eygpt" by Sarah Groves' which is describing this very well. I wonder if you like this song too.
